Core Class Description

Candle making is the process of creating candles by combining wax, a wick, and—if desired—fragrances and dyes. It’s both an ancient craft and a popular modern hobby, allowing for creativity in shapes, scents, and colors.

Here’s an overview of candle making:

Types of Wax:
Common waxes include beeswax, soy wax, and paraffin wax. Each has unique qualities—beeswax burns clean and has a natural scent, soy wax is plant-based and eco-friendly, and paraffin is affordable and widely used.

Wicks:
The wick is the core of the candle and comes in various thicknesses and materials. The right wick ensures the candle burns evenly.

Molds and Containers:
Candles can be poured into decorative containers or shaped in molds for pillars, votives, and more.

Additives:
Dyes and fragrances can be added when the wax is melted, allowing for customization.

The Process:
The basic steps are melting the wax, attaching the wick, adding fragrance/dye, pouring the wax, letting it set, and trimming the wick.

Safety:
Always follow safety guidelines—use heat-resistant containers, never leave melting wax unattended, and handle hot wax with care.

Candle making can be as simple or creative as you like, from natural, unscented candles to colorful, fragranced creations. It’s a rewarding way to make personal gifts or add ambiance to your home. If you want more detailed instructions or project ideas, let me know!
