I enjoy teaching students’/members’/artists’, and seeing their efforts make an heirloom that they have pride in. As their projects progress, you get to see the artist in them develop. It makes me feel good. I believe if you’re good at something, teach others.
My first initiation (40 years ago) into stained glass was a 1875 style German Church glass restoration that took 11 months. Add the new styles and tooling we have today, and it’s far easier to create projects. I enjoy developing items from 2d into 3d, giving us a whole new realm of art to produce. Of course, I still enjoy repairing/restoring old glass for clients.
